It is with deep sorrow that Compton Fire Department and Compton Firefighters Local 2216 report the death of Compton Fire Capt. Javier Perez. Perez went into full cardiac arrest at home and was transported to Whittier Community Hospital, where he died on Sunday, Dec. 5.

Perez began his 25-year service with the Compton Fire Department on October 27, 1986. He is survived by his wife Pat and his two children, Justin, 8, and Isabella, 4.

Memorial services were held on Dec. 13 at Rose Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary Sky Rose Chapel, 3888 Workman Mill Road, Whittier.
