Sounds of the season at CUSD Winter Concert

Photos courtesy of Compton Unified School District COMPTON—More than 500 Compton Unified School District students, teachers, staff and families gathered for an evening of holiday cheer on Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Winter Music & Arts Showcase.
Sponsored by the Compton Education Foundation, CUSD’s Office of Advanced Learning and the Visual and Performing Arts Department, the event was held in Compton High School’s auditorium, 601 S. Acacia St.
The showcase featured musical performances by elementary, middle and high school groups including the Dominguez High School Vocal Ensemble, the Vanguard Learning Center Choir, the Whaley Middle School Choir, the Compton High School Choir, the Willowbrook Middle School Band, the Centennial High School Band, the Compton High School Band and the Dominguez High School Band.
Dominguez High School performed a set of holiday-themed instrumentals during the Winter Concert held on Dec. 1, at Compton High School. Renee Cobb, event organizer and administrator, praised the district’s young musicians and artists. “The district is so proud of the young talent that was on display,” she said. “A lot of credit should also be given to their band leaders and their parents for encouraging them to hone their musical skills. Our students lifted the spirits of the audience with their beautiful music.”
