General education, technical courses at Compton Center

From staff reports

COMPTON—Courses are available at El Camino Compton Center in everything from general education, which will prepare students to transfer to a fouryear college or university, to more than 15 different occupational programs designed for students looking to start a new career, or upgrade their skill set. Saturday, evening and online classes are also available. Saturday classes begin Aug. 25 and weekday classes begin Aug. 27.

For fall, student fees have increased by $10, from $36 to $46 per unit, at all California Community Colleges. Students who qualify for the Board of Governors’ (BOG) fee waiver program will not be affected by this increase. A majority of students who do not qualify for BOG waivers may be eligible for financial aid that covers all or a portion of their fees.

Students are encouraged to visit the Financial Aid office now to prepare for November financial aid deadlines and to learn more about finding the right type of financial aid. Despite the fee increase, California Community Colleges remain the best value in higher education in the state. All fees must be paid in full by Monday, Aug. 20, or students will be dropped from their classes.

Students may also register online by visiting www.compton.edu and clicking on MyECC. For information, call 310-900-1600, Ext. 2050. A free, downloadable class schedule is available on the website.
